The City of Santa Clarita is recruiting for multiple part-time, temporary, seasonal (PTS) positions in the Recreation and Community Services department. The Rink Sports Pavilion is the City’s newest multi-use recreation facility scheduled to open in fall 2026. This state-of-the-art, 25,701-square-foot sports pavilion will enhance recreational opportunities for the community, offering a vibrant new space for recreation and community events. It features a hardwood skating floor with overlay lines for a full-size basketball court, three pickleball courts, and a volleyball court, allowing for flexible, multi-purpose use as well as a concessions area with a full-service kitchen, restrooms, an events area, and a private DJ booth. The focus of the positions will be to provide operational support and program assistance while maintaining a safe and fun environment.
These positions are expected to work up to 20 hours per week and require the ability to work flexible hours, including mornings, late nights, weekends, and some holidays.
Recruitment Process
1. Apply no later than Thursday, July 16, 2026, at 12:00 p.m. to be eligible to participate in the Skating Ability Assessment.
An application must be submitted prior to participating in the assessment.
2. Applicants must complete a mandatory Skating Ability Assessment on one of the following dates.
Applicants who meet the minimum qualifications will receive an email with instructions on how to schedule their Skating Ability Assessment date and time.
The skating assessment will consist of an evaluation of six fundamental skating skills: speed control, kneeling, stopping, crossovers, turns, and backward skating.
Date and Times
Friday, July 17, 2026, from 2:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m.
Saturday, July 18, 2026, from 9:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m.
All candidates under the age of 18 must have a Parent/Guardian present during the Skating Ability Assessment.
3. Upon successful completion of the Skating Ability Assessment, qualifying applications will be invited to a formal interview scheduled for the week of July 27, 2026.
Rink Attendant - $18.23/hour
Duties and Responsibilities
- Enforces rink rules and City policies to maintain a safe environment
- Acts as a Skate Guard to maintain safety on the skating rink floor, including but not limited to, monitoring skates for safe practices and enforcing rink rules, responding to accidents, injuries, or emergencies and providing basic first aid; and conducting regular safety checks and reporting hazards or maintenance needs
- Assist with maintaining a clean facility and work environment
- Assist with implementing safety protocols and emergency procedures for the facility
- Assists with classes, programs, and special events, as assigned
- Assists with maintaining records of assigned tasks and programs
- Organizes first aid equipment
- Provides excellent customer service in person
- Assists with daily facility operations, as assigned
- Reports issues to management staff
- Attends all meetings and trainings
- Monitors all walkways and building entrances to ensure that these areas are clear and safe
Recreation Leader I - $18.78 – $19.92/hour
Recreation Leader I includes all of the responsibilities of the Rink Attendant, in addition to the following:
Duties and Responsibilities
- Maintains a clean facility and work environment
- Implements safety protocols and emergency procedures for the facility
- Utilizes City registration software to assist with class, program, and session enrollment
- Maintains records of assigned tasks and programs
- Provides excellent customer service by phone and email
Recreation Leader II - $20.19 – $21.42/hour
Recreation Leader II includes all of the responsibilities of the Recreation Leader I, in addition to the following:
Duties and Responsibilities
- Administers tasks for the front desk, ticket sales, and skate rental counters
- Processes admissions, rentals, registrations, and retail transactions using point-of-sale systems
- Opens and closes the facility following established procedures
- Maintains skates and sound equipment
- Instructs classes
- Supports marketing efforts by creating internal flyers, developing promotional materials, and assisting with social media content to promote programs and events
- Assists with maintaining various forms, logs, and reports as assigned
- Responds to customer concerns and assists with resolving conflicts and operational issues
- Oversees the facility when working independently
Recreation Leader III - $22.50 – $23.87/hour
Recreation Leader III includes all of the responsibilities of the Recreation Leader I and II, in addition to the following:
Duties and Responsibilities
- Manages close-out procedures and refunds
- Supports full-time staff with administrative and office duties, including planning of facility schedule, staff schedule, theme nights, and sports programming
- Administers the reservations process for, and oversees the implementation of, skate party packages
- Handles maintenance of skates and facility, ensuring they are clean and safe to use
- Manages merchandise by monitoring inventory levels, assisting in ordering products, stocking and restocking merchandise, and maintaining displays
- Assists with the operation and troubleshooting of audio, visual, lighting, and entertainment systems
- Maintains various forms, logs, and reports as assigned
- Leads part-time staff in the overall operations of the facility

As a City of Santa Clarita public employee, you may be called upon to work as a Disaster Service Worker (DSW) in the event of an emergency (in accordance with Government Code §§ 3100-3109). Before entering upon the duties of employment, all public employees, except those excluded by law, take and subscribe to an oath or affirmation set forth in the California Constitution, declaring them to be Disaster Service Workers in time of need.
In addition, part-time, temporary, and seasonal (PTS) employees may be required to participate in the DMV Employer Pull-Notice Program. This program authorizes the City to receive a driver record report upon enrollment and during employment.
This is not a designated Retired Annuitant position. If you are a California Public Employees Retirement System (CalPERS) retiree, you may be required to reinstate into CalPERS.
PTS workers are at-will. Generally, PTS employees are limited to no more than 999 hours.
