Duties
- Prepare individual, corporate, and non-profit tax returns with precision, ensuring compliance with GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles) and tax laws.
- Conduct detailed analysis of financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow reports to support tax planning strategies.
- Assist clients with estate planning, wills, trusts, and estate law considerations to optimize their financial legacy.
- Reconcile accounts such as receivables, payables, general ledger entries, and bank statements using accounting software like QuickBooks, Xero, Sage, or similar platforms.
- Perform audits and internal reviews to verify accuracy of financial data while adhering to SOX (Sarbanes-Oxley Act) regulations.
- Support mergers & acquisitions activities by analyzing financial data and preparing detailed reports for decision-making.
- Provide guidance on tax accounting issues related to securities law, private equity investments, and asset management strategies.
Experience
- Proven experience in public accounting or corporate accounting roles with a strong background in tax preparation and financial analysis.
- Demonstrated knowledge of GAAP standards, regulatory reporting requirements, and double entry bookkeeping principles.
- Familiarity with financial software such as QuickBooks, Xero, Sage, or similar tools for bookkeeping and financial report writing.
- Expertise in analyzing complex financial concepts including asset management, budgeting, payroll processing, and account reconciliation.
- Experience working with non-profit accounting practices or LIHTC (Low-Income Housing Tax Credit) programs is a plus.
- Strong understanding of securities law, mergers & acquisitions processes, and technical accounting practices such as balance sheet reconciliation and general ledger reconciliation.
- Excellent analysis skills combined with the ability to interpret financial reports accurately; proficiency in financial statement preparation is essential.
