Duties
- Greet customers warmly, assess their eyewear needs, and provide personalized recommendations on frames, lenses, and accessories
- Demonstrate knowledge of optical products, including ophthalmology basics, lens options, and frame styles to assist customers in making informed choices
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of medical terminology related to eye health and optical procedures to effectively communicate with customers and healthcare providers
- Support the fitting, adjustment, and cleaning of eyewear ensuring optimal comfort and appearance for each customer
- Manage retail transactions accurately using POS systems while applying retail math skills for pricing and discounts
- Educate customers on proper care for their eyewear and basic eye health practices, including vital signs related to vision assessments when applicable
- Assist in inventory management, stock replenishment, and visual merchandising to create an inviting shopping environment
Skills
- Strong understanding of ophthalmology concepts, anatomy of the eye, physiology knowledge, and medical terminology relevant to eye care
- Experience with retail sales techniques combined with a passion for customer service excellence
- Familiarity with EMR (Electronic Medical Records) systems such as Epic or similar platforms used in optical clinics or healthcare environments
- Knowledge of HIPAA regulations to ensure patient confidentiality when handling medical records or sensitive information
- Laboratory experience or optical experience preferred for assisting with lens fitting or repairs
- Ability to interpret medical billing codes related to eye care services when necessary
- Competence in using clinic systems for appointment scheduling or medical coding tasks related to pediatrics or senior care populations
