Responsibilities
- Safely operate school buses, transit buses, or paratransit vehicles to transport students and passengers along designated routes.
- Ensure the safety of all passengers by following transportation safety regulations, traffic laws, and school policies.
- Conduct pre-trip inspections of the vehicle to verify operational safety, including checking brakes, lights, signals, and emergency equipment.
- Maintain clear communication with dispatchers and school personnel regarding route updates or delays.
- Respond quickly and appropriately to traffic changes, emergencies, or unexpected incidents on the road.
- Uphold passenger safety standards by managing student behavior and providing excellent customer service throughout each trip.
Skills
- Proven experience in bus driving, school bus driving, or commercial driving with a strong understanding of vehicle codes and transportation safety regulations.
- Knowledge of traffic laws, emergency response procedures for transportation, and defensive driving techniques.
- Excellent communication skills in English; multilingual abilities are a plus for engaging diverse communities.
- Familiarity with student discipline strategies and behavior management to ensure a safe environment onboard.
- Valid driver’s license appropriate for commercial or school bus operation; CDL (Commercial Driver’s License) preferred.
- Certifications in first aid, CPR, and emergency stop procedures to respond effectively in urgent situations.
- Strong writing skills for completing reports such as incident logs or vehicle inspection forms.
- Experience working with children or senior care is advantageous to foster positive interactions with passengers.

Pay: $16.00 - $19.00 per hour
