Position Summary
The Head Middle School Wrestling Coach is responsible for leading and developing a competitive and educational wrestling program that promotes skill development, sportsmanship, teamwork, discipline, and personal growth. The coach will create a positive and inclusive environment that supports student-athletes both on and off the mat while aligning with the school's mission, athletic department expectations, and district policies.

Plan, organize, and conduct daily practices that emphasize fundamental wrestling techniques, conditioning, and sportsmanship.

Develop practice plans that are age-appropriate, engaging, and focused on athlete development.

Coach and supervise student-athletes during practices, competitions, and team activities.

Foster a positive team culture built on respect, accountability, and integrity.

Teach and reinforce good sportsmanship, character, and leadership.

Ensure the safety and well-being of all student-athletes by following established safety protocols.

Maintain communication with athletes, parents, school administration, and athletic department staff.

Monitor student-athlete academic eligibility and encourage academic success.

Coordinate equipment inventory, care, and distribution.

Assist with scheduling competitions and coordinating travel as assigned.

Ensure compliance with all school, district, conference, and state athletic association rules and regulations.

Attend required coaches' meetings, professional development sessions, and athletic department events.

Perform other duties as assigned by the Athletic Director or school administration.
Minimum Qualifications

High school diploma required; associate's or bachelor's degree preferred.

Previous wrestling coaching and/or competitive wrestling experience.

Knowledge of wrestling rules, techniques, training methods, and athlete development.

Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.

Ability to motivate and mentor middle school student-athletes.

Current CPR, First Aid, and concussion certification (or willingness to obtain before the season begins).

Successful completion of all required background checks and district hiring requirements.

Previous experience coaching middle school or high school wrestling.

Experience working with adolescents in an educational setting.

Demonstrated ability to build a positive and inclusive team culture.
