Responsibilities for Dietary Cook
- Prepare and cook meals according to planned menus, dietary orders, and portion requirements
- Ensure meals are prepared in accordance with residents’ nutritional needs and preferences
- Follow all food safety, sanitation, and infection prevention guidelines
- Maintain a clean, organized, and efficient kitchen environment
- Assist with food preparation, meal service, and tray accuracy as needed
- Monitor food temperatures, storage, and kitchen sanitation to ensure compliance
- Work collaboratively with the dietary team and nursing staff to meet resident meal needs
- Ensure quality, consistency, and timeliness of meal service
- Assist with cleaning equipment, workstations, and kitchen areas after meal service
- Support a positive dining experience for residents through quality food preparation and teamwork
Qualifications for Dietary Cook
- Prior cooking or food service experience required
- Long-term care or healthcare dietary experience preferred
- Knowledge of kitchen safety, food handling, and sanitation practices
- Ability to follow dietary guidelines and menu instructions
- Strong work ethic and team-oriented attitude
- Reliable, punctual, and compassionate
