Instructional Designer – Learning & Development
We are seeking an experienced Instructional Designer to develop engaging, practical learning solutions for employees working across a variety of operational and professional environments.
Bilingual English/Spanish proficiency is required for this position. Candidates must be comfortable developing, reviewing, and supporting learning materials in both English and Spanish.
Location: Remote with occasional travel.
Compensation: Starting at $40/hour, with final compensation based on experience and qualifications.
This role is ideal for someone who enjoys taking complex information and turning it into learning that is clear, useful, and easy to apply on the job. The Instructional Designer will manage projects from initial discovery through development and implementation, working closely with subject matter experts and business partners to create effective training experiences.
We are looking for someone who is proactive, resourceful, highly organized, and comfortable taking ownership of projects with limited day-to-day direction. Key Responsibilities
Learning Design & Development
- Design and develop instructor-led, virtual, eLearning, video, and performance-support solutions.
- Create learning materials such as eLearning courses, videos, facilitator guides, job aids, reference materials, assessments, and communications.
- Translate complex processes, policies, technical information, and business requirements into clear and practical learning experiences.
- Apply adult learning principles and instructional design best practices throughout the development process.
- Develop training that can be effectively used across different roles, locations, and experience levels.
Content Development & Improvement
- Review existing training materials and identify opportunities to simplify, modernize, consolidate, or improve content.
- Organize information into intuitive learning experiences that help employees quickly understand what they need to know and do.
- Maintain consistency in instructional quality, structure, and learner experience.
- Update learning materials as processes, requirements, or business needs change.
Project Ownership
- Independently manage multiple learning projects from discovery through final delivery.
- Proactively identify information gaps, potential challenges, and opportunities for improvement.
- Establish project timelines, communicate progress, and follow through on deliverables.
- Gather the information and resources needed to move projects forward without relying on extensive day-to-day oversight.
Stakeholder Collaboration
- Partner with subject matter experts, operational leaders, and other business stakeholders to understand learning needs and validate content.
- Facilitate conversations and working sessions to uncover processes, requirements, and performance expectations.
- Ask effective questions and translate SME knowledge into structured, learner-friendly content.
- Incorporate stakeholder feedback while maintaining strong instructional design standards.
- Contribute positively to the team by communicating openly, sharing ideas, supporting teammates, and approaching challenges with a solution-focused mindset.
Operational & Compliance Learning
- Develop training supporting operational procedures, workplace safety, compliance requirements, and organizational standards.
- Research applicable requirements and work with appropriate subject matter experts to ensure content accuracy.
- Design training that helps employees understand not only requirements, but how those requirements apply to their day-to-day work.
- Maintain organized training materials and documentation to support consistent implementation.
Requirements:
- 5+ years of professional instructional design or learning development experience required.
- Bachelor degree required.
- Work samples required.
- Bilingual English/Spanish proficiency required.
- Candidates must currently reside in the United States and be authorized to work in the U.S. without current or future employer sponsorship.
Qualifications:
- Demonstrated experience independently designing and developing training programs and learning materials.
- Demonstrated ability to produce high-quality, visually appealing learning experiences with strong attention to layout, typography, consistency, and overall design.
- Strong understanding of adult learning principles and instructional design methodologies.
- Experience developing eLearning and multimedia learning solutions.
- Strong writing, editing, and visual communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects, priorities, and stakeholders simultaneously.
- Demonstrated ability to take initiative, solve problems, and move projects forward independently.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to work with complex or technical information.
Preferred Skills & Experience
- Articulate Rise 360 or similar eLearning authoring tools
- Canva or similar visual design platforms
- HeyGen or other AI-assisted video development tools
- Learning management systems (LMS)
- Video and multimedia development
- Training for frontline, operational, warehouse, distribution, manufacturing, or similar employee populations
- Safety, compliance, policy, or procedure-based training
- Developing learning for multilingual audiences
