About the Role
We're looking for an exceptional, multi-faceted Product Counsel to support product development for the Delivery Marketplace and how Delivery People interact with the Uber Eats app (and vice-versa). The Delivery Legal team serves as a critical business partner as we scale a global platform that enables millions of people around the world to have (almost) anything delivered to their doorstep - from family meals to everyday essentials. In this role, you'll offer strategic counsel to Product, Operations, Engineering, Policy and other Legal teams to help launch new features, assess legal and regulatory risk, and think critically about how the Uber Eats app can best serve Delivery People and the overall Eats marketplace. This is an opportunity to tackle novel, complex problems at the intersection of cutting edge technology, real world interactions, and regulation. If you're excited about shaping the future of on-demand delivery and want to have an exciting impact at a global scale, we welcome you to apply.
What You'll Do:
- Lead global legal reviews for new products and features - from early design through launch - across the Uber platform, supporting earners and coordinating legal input with international legal teams;
- Provide deeply partnered and strategic feedback to your business clients on a wide range of sophisticated issues, including in the areas of employment law, consumer protection, privacy, safety and litigation;
- Act as a connective force across Legal and cross-functional teams, synthesizing inputs and driving timely, actionable advice for the Delivery business;
- Be a strong communicator and collaborator on a high-performing, diverse team to achieve our legal and business priorities; and
- Draft terms and conditions, FAQs, legal disclaimers, and other policies governing the use of Uber products and services.
Basic Qualifications:
- 5+ years of legal experience in private practice, government, and/or in-house (or minimum 4 years total legal experience including at least year at Uber);
- J.D. and active license to practice law in at least one U.S. state.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with global marketplaces or platform businesses, particularly in delivery or related services, and comfort navigating regulatory requirements for product builds that launch across multiple global markets;
- Strong, team-oriented collaborator, with confidence and flexibility to perform in nimble, rapidly changing and growing environments, as well as build relationships and gain credibility with business and legal partners;
- Superior analytical and legal skills, mature judgment, innovative thinking and a desire to take the initiative and think several steps ahead;
- Ability to translate complex legal issues and ambiguity into clear and simple advice, to communicate effectively with non-legal internal colleagues, and to interface with a broad range of senior business managers, executives and other colleagues and professionals across our company;
- A strong sense of ownership, curiosity, and desire to make a big impact;
- Embody the highest standards of integrity, ethics and accountability;
Enthusiasm about Uber and our mission!
