Research Engineer
Job Description:
The candidate will lead a small while multi-discipline team to develop market-expected, innovative and product-based HVAC&R technologies or practical solutions in the areas of building energy conservation, design software, controls, building automation, cleanroom energy saving, laboratory/healthcare airborne contamination prevention, or zero-energy (or near-zero-energy) applications for non-residential buildings. The candidate must have prior hands-on research experience and technical publications in the HVAC&R field, and have demonstrated the potential to establish industrial recognition in the chosen field.
The candidate needs to have the knowledge and capacity to review the existing technologies and identify the potential technologies with market demands, establish a feasible research plan technically and financially in order to develop new technologies from conception, to experiment, completion, demonstration and commercialization.
Qualification:
- MS in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering is required, Ph.D is preferred.
- 4-plus years hands-on research experience and technical publications in HVAC&R field (air-side and/or water-side, system and/or component) are required
- Manufacturer R&D experience is preferred
- PE registration is not required, but it is desired to obtain in future
- Experience in consulting MEP or A/E design firm is a plus
- Knowledge of ASME, ANSI, NFPA and building codes, ASHRAE standards and USGBC guideline is desired
- Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc. proficiency is a must, have experience with common HVAC product design, system analysis, modeling and simulation software
- Self motivated, analytical, excellent communication, written and presentation skills
