Responsibilities of After School Teachers
- Supervise and ensure the safety and well-being of school-age children (ages 5–12) during after-school hours, maintaining required staff-to-child ratios at all times
- Provide homework support and academic reinforcement, creating a quiet, focused environment and assisting children with assignments as needed
- Lead and facilitate enrichment activities across STEM, arts and crafts, physical fitness, dramatic play, and character-development lessons
- Implement Kiddie Academy's Life Essentials curriculum and Character Essentials framework in age-appropriate, engaging ways
- Manage classroom behavior using positive guidance techniques, modeling conflict resolution, teamwork, and respectful communication
- Supervise safe transitions, including school pickup/dismissal, bus loading and unloading, and headcounts during all transportation and movement
- Prepare and serve healthy snacks while following food safety and allergy protocols
- Maintain a clean, organized, and welcoming classroom environment, including setup and cleanup of activities and materials
- Communicate professionally with parents about their child's day, behavior, and progress, and through the Kiddie Academy app
- Ensure compliance with New York OCFS regulations and all licensing, health, and safety requirements
- Monitor and document attendance, incident reports, and other required records accurately
- Support full-day programming on school holidays and during summer camp and seasonal sessions
- Collaborate with fellow teachers and program leadership to plan activities and continuously improve the program
Qualifications
- 2+ years of experience in Early Childhood Education (preferred)
- AA/BA in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, Educational Studies, Special Education, or a related field OR Child Development Associate Certificate (CDA)
- Strong communication and classroom management skills.
- Strong leadership and classroom management skills
- Ability to communicate professionally and compassionately with families
- Must meet all NY state licensing requirements
- CPR/First Aid certification (provided if needed)
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
Compensation
$21–$23/hour, based on education, experience, and credentials
Schedule
- Part-time
- Monday–Friday
- Afternoon shift
- 20 hours/week with OT opportunities
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $21.00 - $23.00 per hour
