SSP Industries in San Antonio Tx is looking for the following underground wet utility field positions:
Experienced Excavator operator - 6-8 years of experience required
Duties/Responsibilities:
· Operates excavating equipment and heavy machinery including 315/210/320 excavators, backhoes (second compactor), wheeled loader and other heavy equipment.
· Effectively completes excavation and related tasks such as backfilling excavations and breaking concrete or rock using appropriate equipment.
· Conducts routine inspections before operating equipment to identify needed maintenance or repairs.
· Performs or requests necessary repairs and adjustments to equipment.
· Coordinates with superintendent and other team members.
· Consults digging plans, machine specifications, and safety procedures for specific tasks.
· Ensures work is completed to specification by observing grade stakes, material levels, hand signals, and other markers.
· Transports materials around job sites.
· Maintain a safe and clean work environment.
· Performs other related duties as assigned.
Required Skills/Abilities:
· Ability to operate heavy construction machinery.
· Worked in underground utilities
· 6-8 years of experience in digging around utilities is a must
· Ability to work well as part of a team and have good decision-making skills.
· Ability to have good time management to complete projects in an efficient manner.
· Knowledge of excavation, compaction, loading and unloading procedures and techniques.
· Ability to follow instructions and read excavation plans.
· Excellent mechanical and problem-solving skills.
· Knowledge of traffic regulations and laws pertaining to large vehicles.
· Valid Driver’s License
· Ability to work in a physically demanding environment.
Physical Requirements:
· Able to complete physically demanding work.
· Able to lift and carry heavy objects.
· Good hand-eye-foot coordination and sense of balance.
· Able to kneel, crouch, or crawl in awkward spaces to repair equipment.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $25.00 - $30.00 per hour
