This is a PT or FT opportunity paying $ 12+ or higher per hour depending on experience. Must be available to work Monday through Friday between the hours of 7:30am and 5pm. Prefer 1 year of experience or willing and able to learn the following Veterinary Technician/ Receptionist job tasks included, but not limited to:
- Greeting and welcoming patients with sincerity.
- Answering telephone calls and returning e-mails.
- Scheduling appointments using our designated software.
- Informing the veterinarian on a call of any emergencies that require urgent attention.
- Issuing invoices for treatment and prescribed medication after each consultation.
- Receiving and verifying payments after each consultation.
- Informing the veterinarian on-call about possible instances of animal abuse or neglect.
- Monitoring the inventory of items for sale by the practice and restocking these, as needed.
- Overseeing the sale of items stocked by the practice.
- Be able to lift 50+ pounds.
- Be able to bend, lift, and stand on feet frequently.
In addition, must be willing to learn the following skills : computer literacy, ability to use multi-line phones, interact with clients by checking in patients, perform financial transactions, answer client questions, work in a team environment with staff, be familiar with paper and e-filing systems. Must be willing to be cross trained as a veterinary technician in order to perform the following duties:
- Performing an initial examination of the animal.
- Taking vital signs, drawing blood and gathering medical histories.
- Providing emergency first aid.
- Collecting specimens.
- Assisting in research.
- Performing laboratory procedures.
- Preparing animals and equipment for surgical procedures.
- Administering medications and vaccines prescribed by a veterinarian.
- Taking and processing x-rays.
- Educating animal owners.
Must be 18 years of age or older with a high school diploma and reliable transportation to get to work. Must be able to work in the USA with appropriate ID's and working credentials to support working status. English speaking and/or Bilingual [English and Spanish speaking] preferred. And most importantly, enjoy working with pets and people.
