Assistant Director of Family Ministry
Job Description
Position Type: Part-time Salaried Position (Average of 10hrs/wk)
Position Summary:
The Assistant Director of Family Ministry at Ascension Lutheran Church will assist the Director of Family Ministry in equipping and building up the families, youth, and children of the congregation to help them grow in their relationship with God. This leader will build healthy relationships with families, youth, and children in the congregation and equip them to live as Christians in today’s world. The Assistant Director of Family Ministry will be a leader who also develops leaders to meet the needs of the families of Ascension.
Accountability:
The Assistant Director of Family Ministry will serve under the direction of and be responsible to the Director of Family Ministry in all areas of ministry.
Compensation:
$10,000 per year
Key Responsibilities:
The Assistant Director of Family Ministry will assist the Director of Family Ministry in the following duties and responsibilities. Other duties may be assigned by the Director of Family Ministry.
Vision and Leadership
· Develop and communicate a vision for Family Ministry to families, parents, volunteers, and leaders of Ascension
· Provide leadership for ministry to the families, youth, and children of Ascension
· Recruit, train, and develop leaders for family, youth, and children’s ministry
· Exemplify Christian character and conduct
· Be sustained in faith by weekly attendance at worship and active participation in the life of the church
· Pray for the families, youth, and children of our congregation regularly
· Develop and implement processes and systems to effectively and regularly communicate with the members of Ascension
· Attend school and community events of children and youth
Children’s Ministry
· Develop, implement, and coordinate ministry for the children of the congregation. The purpose of this ministry will be to build up and encourage children through God’s Word and prayer so that they will grow in their Christian faith, in their relationships with their families, and in their relationships with their brothers and sisters in Christ.
Youth Ministry
· Develop, implement, and coordinate ministry for the youth of the congregation. The purpose of this ministry will be to build up and encourage youth through God’s Word and prayer so that they will grow in their Christian faith, in their relationships with their families, and in their relationships with their brothers and sisters in Christ.
Family Ministry
· Develop implement, and coordinate ministry for the families of the congregation. The purpose of this ministry will be to build up and encourage families to grow in their faith through God’s Word and prayer and to foster meaningful relationships with other families and members of Ascension.
The Assistant Director of Family Ministry will possess the following skills, abilities, and qualifications:
· Qualifications:
o A deep and abiding faith in Jesus Christ
o An understanding of the Bible as God’s inerrant, infallible Word and a firm commitment to Scripture’s teaching as summarized in the ecumenical creeds and Luther’s Small Catechism
o A passion for working with children and their families
o A deep commitment to the mission and vision of Ascension Lutheran Church
o An ability to maintain confidentiality
· Skills:
o An ability to develop ministry teams, administrate, and lead
o Excellent communication skills
o Proficiency in the various means of communication and social media
o Ability to collaborate with church staff, committees, and volunteers
o Excellent time-management and organizational skills
Pay: $10,000.00 per year
