PRIMARY PURPOSE:
Provide support for back-of-house kitchen operations at MHAB Café and VPAC food service areas. Assist with food preparation, cooking, sanitation, and overall kitchen operations while maintaining high standards of food quality, safety, and efficiency.
QUALIFICATIONS:

High School Diploma or GED preferred

Food Safety Training Certification required
Special Knowledge/Skills:

Basic knowledge of kitchen operations and food preparation

Ability to follow recipes, food preparation procedures, and safety guidelines

Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced kitchen environment

Strong teamwork and communication skills

Ability to maintain cleanliness and organization of kitchen areas
Experience:

Minimum of one (1) year experience in food preparation or kitchen operations preferred

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
This is a part-time temporary assignment, however, the Schedule is based on café operations and event needs, including early mornings, nights, weekends, and holidays.
PAY:
$15/hour
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Food Preparation & Cooking

Assist in preparation and cooking of hot and cold food items

Maintain food quality, consistency, and presentation as directed by Chef

Follow recipes and preparation guidelines
-
Ensure proper portioning and handling of food products
Kitchen Operations
-
Maintain knowledge of menu items and food products
-
Complete daily prep tasks and assigned duties within scheduled timeframe

Respond to changing workload or kitchen needs as directed
-
Assist with inventory awareness and notify supervisors of low supplies
Sanitation & Food Safety
-
Follow all CFISD and State of Texas food handling and safety standards

Maintain clean, sanitized kitchen and preparation areas

Perform cleaning duties including sweeping, mopping, scrubbing, and sanitizing equipment

Wash dishes and utensils to maintain safe and clean conditions
Teamwork & Customer Focus

Maintain professional and positive attitude with staff and guests

Work collaboratively with kitchen and food service team members

Demonstrate willingness to learn and improve culinary skills
ADDITIONAL DUTIES:

Assist with event or catering preparation as needed

Support food service operations across campus or venue areas as assigned

Maintain organized storage areas (dry, refrigerated, and frozen)

Perform other duties as assigned by Chef or Supervisor
