Required Certifications/Licenses:
Valid WI Educator License.
Position Purpose:
To serve as a Tier 2 and 3 behavior interventionist as well as a resource to staff and parents for best practices in behavior management.
Formal Education:
WI Teaching License. Prefer Master’s Degree or extensive training and experience.
Experience:
Minimum of five years of classroom teaching experience is preferred.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
1. Knowledge of or willingness to learn about and provide support for implementation of RUSD’s North Star Vision.
2. Knowledge of best practices in behavior curriculum development.
3. Knowledge of IDEA and state statutes that govern implementation of all services to students with disabilities.
4. Knowledge of high quality teaching and learning models and professional development.
5. Knowledge of school improvement planning, data driven decision making and aligning resources to focus on learning for all students.
6. Ability to facilitate planning, follow through and implementation of large-scale district initiatives as well as building initiatives.
7. Skillful facilitator of large and small meetings.
8. Ability to keep confidentiality and work on a collaborative, highly accountable team.
Essential Functions:
- Work with staff to provide resources, strategies and/or professional learning opportunities in behavior management, PBIS, Developmental Design, Second Step, Restorative Practices, etc.
- Lead brief FBA/BIP student meetings.
- Help to ensure PBIS tiers one and two are implemented with fidelity.
- Facilitate Check in-Check out groups.
- Facilitate Social Emotional groups.
- Serve as the adult liaison in Restorative Practices meetings.
- Supervise the Student Ambassador program.
- Develop and organize the Circle of Power and Respect within the Developmental Design framework.
- Other duties as assigned.
Work Environment:
Busy educational environment with multiple priorities and frequent interruptions.
Physical Demands:
- Must be able to spend up to 70% of the day walking.
- Able to walk or run quickly through hallways and stairwells in an emergency situation.
- Ability to stand for prolonged periods, respond to active crisis situations and support student movement.
- Ability to perform light physical work, frequently lifting up to 50 pounds without assistance
- Ability to communicate effectively on the telephone and in person to provide information and assistance
- Ability to move throughout the building and from building to building
- Dexterity and hand/eye coordination necessary to operate computer keyboard and other office equipment
- Hearing ability adequate to participate in numerous conversations throughout the day, both in person and over the telephone
- Ability to complete job activities in an environment where background noise and frequent interruptions are the norm
- Ability to maintain concentration and focus on tasks requiring timeliness and accuracy
