Supports field operations by helping to keep Morgan owned equipment in good working order. Performs maintenance or repairs to keep equipment in repair. Duties include welding; repairing electrical, mechanical, or hydraulic equipment; installing, aligning, and balancing new equipment. Under limited supervision, performs difficult routine work related to maintenance and repair on construction equipment and tools. Some of the equipment includes excavators, material handlers, front end loaded, shears, skid steers, balers, diesel trucks etc.

Determine Equipment condition by inspections, & diagnostic testing

Keep equipment available for use with maintenance schedules, part upgrades, & winterizations

Maintain vehicle appearance, washing & repairing damaged parts

Maintain vehicle records

Trouble shoot any issues any equipment is having

Support laborers in any capacity needed

Keep the shop clean and organized

Enforce Adherence to all health and Safety Standards

Qualifications

Working conditions
Morgan Asphalt will provide a company pick-up truck to travel to and from the construction job site. All small tools will be provided by the mechanic himself to complete the work. Expect all of your time to be spent in the field. Plan on working all 4 seasons outside and dress accordingly to protect yourself from the elements. Working conditions will vary from job site to job site but all job sites will have uneven ground, limited access, and risks of slips, trips, and falls. Hours will vary depending on workload but generally, we expect a mechanic to work 50 hours a week.
Physical requirements
A pre-employment physical & drug test will be required before employment to ensure physical health. This job regularly requires lifting heavy loads 50lbs or more and is extremely strenuous on the body. Ability to stand up all day, work in the shop, and be able to use manually operated tools are a requirement.
Direct reports
Mechanics will report directly to a shop foreman. Each Mechanic is responsible to plan & prioritize his day with the write-ups he has, the maintenance schedule, on or any other direction that has been given. All mechanics report to the Equipment Manager.
