Role Overview
BEPC is actively seeking an experienced Senior Project Engineer to join our customer's team in St. Louis, Missouri. This role will provide senior-level engineering leadership for a major life sciences capital expansion project, overseeing project execution from planning through construction while ensuring projects are delivered safely, on schedule, within budget, and in compliance with quality and regulatory standards.
The ideal candidate has extensive experience managing pharmaceutical or biotechnology capital projects, including cleanroom construction and brownfield facility expansions. Candidates with a strong mechanical or electrical engineering background are highly preferred.
Key Responsibilities
Project Leadership
- Lead engineering workstreams for large-scale capital projects from design through construction and commissioning.
- Provide senior-level project engineering and technical expertise throughout the project lifecycle.
- Ensure projects are completed within scope, schedule, and budget.
- Coordinate activities across engineering, construction, operations, and quality teams.
Capital Project Execution
- Support pharmaceutical manufacturing facility expansion projects.
- Lead execution of brownfield capital improvement projects.
- Coordinate engineering activities associated with cleanroom construction and classified manufacturing spaces.
- Review engineering drawings, specifications, and technical documentation.
- Evaluate engineering solutions that support project objectives and regulatory compliance.
Construction Support
- Collaborate closely with site leadership, construction teams, and project stakeholders.
- Review and respond to construction submittals and Requests for Information (RFIs).
- Evaluate field changes and manage project scope modifications.
- Support construction planning, installation, startup, and project closeout activities.
Risk & Stakeholder Management
- Identify project risks and develop effective mitigation strategies.
- Drive timely decision-making while communicating project status to stakeholders.
- Build strong working relationships across cross-functional teams.
- Influence project outcomes without direct authority while maintaining alignment with business objectives.
Process Improvement & Compliance
- Ensure compliance with pharmaceutical manufacturing regulations, cGMP requirements, and engineering standards.
- Develop organized project management processes and documentation.
- Support qualification and validation activities for regulated manufacturing environments.
- Maintain accurate engineering documentation and project records.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Process Engineering, or a related discipline).
- Minimum 15 years of experience managing capital engineering projects.
- Experience leading pharmaceutical, biotechnology, or life sciences capital projects.
- Experience supporting cleanroom design, construction, and classified Grade C/D manufacturing environments.
- Strong understanding of pharmaceutical manufacturing regulations and cGMP requirements.
- Experience executing capital projects within operational manufacturing facilities.
- Ability to interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and construction documents.
- Experience reviewing construction submittals, RFIs, and scope changes.
- Excellent leadership, communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to travel to and work onsite in St. Louis, MO Monday through Friday.
