Resource Room Teacher
Position Overview
Elite School Staffing is seeking a compassionate and skilled Resource Room Teacher for the 2026–2027 school year for the Service Learning District. This role is dedicated to providing individualized instruction, specialized services, and academic support for students with diverse learning needs. The ideal candidate will demonstrate expertise in special education, strong collaboration skills, and a commitment to fostering a positive and inclusive classroom environment.
Key Responsibilities
Instruction & Program Delivery
- Implement and maintain individualized education programs (IEPs) in compliance with federal, state, and district requirements.
- Provide specialized instruction in small group and one-on-one settings to meet the needs of students with disabilities.
- Adapt curriculum materials and teaching strategies to accommodate varied learning styles and abilities.
- Incorporate technology and assistive devices to enhance student engagement and success.
Assessment & Documentation
- Participate in the development, implementation, and monitoring of IEPs, METs, REEDs, FBAs, BIPs, and MDRs.
- Maintain accurate records of student progress, attendance, and behavior.
- Regularly assess student performance and adjust instructional strategies accordingly.
- Communicate student progress to parents, administrators, and the multidisciplinary team.
Collaboration & Support
- Work closely with general education teachers, paraprofessionals, administrators, and support staff to ensure coordinated services.
- Partner with families to provide consistent support across school and home settings.
- Engage in MTSS and other school-wide initiatives to promote inclusive education.
- Serve as an advocate for students, ensuring access to appropriate resources and accommodations.
Classroom Management & Environment
- Establish and maintain a supportive, structured, and inclusive classroom climate.
- Implement positive behavior supports and interventions to encourage student success.
- Promote student independence, responsibility, and social-emotional growth.
Qualifications
Education & Certification
- Bachelor’s degree in Special Education or related field required; Master’s degree preferred.
- Valid Michigan Teaching Certificate with an endorsement in one or more areas: Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), Cognitive Impairment (CI), Emotional Impairment (EI), Learning Disabilities (LD), Physical/Other Health Impairment (OHI), Speech/Language Impairment (SLI), or Visual Impairment (VI).
Experience
- Minimum of 3 years teaching experience in special education preferred.
- Demonstrated success in writing and implementing IEPs and related documentation.
- Experience managing a caseload of up to 23 students.

Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift up to 15 lbs., push/pull, and carry instructional materials.
- Ability to travel between school buildings within the district as needed.
- Capacity to manage multiple priorities and respond to demands from staff, students, and families.
Pay: $45,000.00 - $55,000.00 per year
