Job Description:
The Paralegal will be responsible for coordinating and assisting agency attorneys with preparing for meetings, hearings, mediations, and trials.
Role and Responsibilities:
- Summarize legal documents
- Notarize documents
- Perform records and legal research
- Check legal documents for accuracy
- Prepare and proof reports, pleadings, correspondence and other legal documents
- Assemble and electronically file court documents
- Research case law
- Maintain legal files
Physical Demands:
- Bend, walk, sit, stand for long periods
- Able to see, hear, speak
- Repetitive motion using coordination and dexterity abilities
Minimum Qualifications and Education Requirements:
- Must be a certified Paralegal or possess equivalent degree
- 4-6 years of law firm experience
- Must possess a valid Florida Driver’s License or state issued ID card
- Must possess a Social Security Card
- Must be 18 years old or older
- Must have obtained a high school or GED diploma
- Must be a US Citizen or possess a current permanent resident card
- Must not have been convicted of a felony
- Must not have used illegal drugs in the last 12 months
- Must not have received a dishonorable discharge from the United States Armed Forces
- Must be able to work various hours with rotating days off, as well as weekends, holidays, and emergency events such as hurricanes
- Must be able to speak, write and understand the English language
Preferred Skills:
- Good writing and communication skills
- Computer literacy and good typing skills
- Ability to prioritize
- Ability to work under a tight schedule
- In depth knowledge of legal terminology and principles
