Job Summary
We are seeking a purchasing agent/buyer to join our team at Hannon.
This position is responsible for sourcing and purchasing the parts, materials, components, and services needed to support daily repair and production operations.
The ideal candidate is organized, detail-oriented, mechanically inclined, and comfortable working in a fast-paced industrial environment. Experience purchasing hydraulic, industrial, or heavy-equipment components is highly preferred.
Key Responsibilities
- Work with our production team to estimate jobs in a timely manner.
- Purchase hydraulic cylinder components, seals, repair kits, steel, tubing, rods, bearings, hardware, and other materials required for repairs.
- Source parts and materials from new and existing suppliers while obtaining competitive pricing and lead times.
- Review material requirements, work orders, and inventory levels to determine purchasing needs.
- Prepare and issue purchase orders and ensure orders are accurate and properly documented.
- Communicate with vendors regarding pricing, availability, lead times, substitutions, quality, and delivery schedules.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with suppliers.
- Monitor open purchase orders and follow up on late or backordered materials.
- Coordinate with the shop, service, and management teams to ensure required materials are available when needed.
- Research alternate suppliers and materials when necessary to minimize downtime and control costs.
- Verify incoming materials against purchase orders for quantity, specifications, and quality.
- Maintain accurate purchasing records, vendor information, pricing, and documentation.
- Assist with inventory management, cycle counts, and identifying opportunities to reduce excess or obsolete inventory.
- Help negotiate pricing, payment terms, freight costs, and other purchasing conditions.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives related to purchasing, inventory, and supplier performance.
Qualifications
- 2+ years of purchasing, buying, procurement, or materials-management experience preferred.
- Experience in a hydraulic repair, machine shop, industrial, manufacturing, construction, or heavy-equipment environment is a strong plus.
- Knowledge of hydraulic cylinders, seals, bearings, steel, machining components, or industrial hardware is highly desirable.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Ability to read and understand part numbers, specifications, drawings, and material requirements.
- Strong communication and negotiation skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and purchasing/inventory software.
- Ability to prioritize multiple orders and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to find solutions when parts are unavailable or have extended lead times.
- High level of reliability, professionalism, and follow-through.

Pay: From $25.00 per hour
Expected hours: No less than 45.0 per week
