Overview
We are seeking a compassionate, dependable, and patient In-Home Caregiver to provide one-on-one care for an elderly woman who is blind and living with Alzheimer’s disease. This position is ideal for someone who enjoys caring for seniors and understands the importance of providing companionship, dignity, safety, and encouragement throughout the day.
The caregiver will provide non-medical personal care and supervision in a private home. The ideal candidate is attentive, reliable, trustworthy, and comfortable assisting with daily living activities while creating a calm and supportive environment.
Position Details
- Position: In-Home Caregiver
- Employment Type: Full-Time (Day Shift)
- Location: Private Residence
- Schedule: 8-hour daytime shift with a 1-hour unpaid lunch break
- Compensation: $11.00 per hour
- Pay Schedule: Paid weekly every Friday
Role & Responsibilities
The In-Home Caregiver will be responsible for providing attentive, compassionate care throughout the day, including:
- Provide continuous supervision to ensure safety and comfort.
- Assist with bathroom visits and personal care as needed.
- Encourage and monitor hydration by offering water regularly.
- Heat and serve pre-prepared breakfast, lunch, and dinner.
- Assist with meal setup while allowing independent eating whenever possible.
- Offer companionship through conversation and a calm, reassuring presence.
- Monitor for changes in mood, behavior, or physical condition.
- Maintain a clean and organized caregiving area after meals and personal care.
- Communicate any concerns or emergencies to the family immediately.
- Treat the client with patience, dignity, kindness, and respect at all times.

Required Abilities
- Ability to provide compassionate care with patience and understanding.
- Ability to remain attentive throughout the entire shift.
- Ability to safely assist with toileting and mobility as needed.
- Ability to follow daily routines and caregiver instructions.
- Ability to remain calm during periods of confusion or memory loss.
Skills

Knowledge
- Experience caring for seniors is preferred.

- Knowledge of maintaining a safe home environment.
- CPR and First Aid certification is a plus but not required.

What to Expect During the Hiring Process
Our hiring process is designed to ensure we find a compassionate, dependable caregiver who is the right fit for our family.
Step 1 – Application Review
Qualified applicants will be contacted to discuss their caregiving experience, availability, and interest in the position.
Step 2 – Phone Interview
Selected applicants will participate in a brief phone interview to discuss their experience, work history, caregiving philosophy, and schedule.
Step 3 – In-Person Interview
Final candidates will meet with the family in the home to discuss the position, ask questions, and become familiar with the caregiving environment.
Step 4 – Drug Screening
Final candidates must successfully complete a pre-employment drug screening.
Step 5 – Criminal Background Check
Final candidates must successfully pass a criminal background check. Because this position involves caring for a vulnerable adult in a private home, honesty, integrity, and trustworthiness are essential.
Step 6 – Reference Verification
Professional and/or personal references will be contacted to verify reliability, work ethic, and caregiving experience.
Step 7 – Job Offer
The selected candidate will receive a formal job offer, review the caregiving schedule, compensation, and expectations, and establish an agreed-upon start date.
