Senior Mechanical Design Engineer
A well-established, employee-owned engineering and construction organization is seeking a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to join its growing team. This role is responsible for leading the design of HVAC and related building systems on a variety of projects while mentoring junior engineers and supporting projects from concept through construction.

Participate in project design meetings as a lead mechanical design representative.

Develop conceptual and preliminary mechanical system designs for estimating and project development.

Perform engineering calculations, including:
- Heating and cooling load calculations

Equipment selection and sizing
-
Duct and pipe sizing
-
Friction loss calculations
-
Other mechanical system analyses
-
Prepare and review construction documents and design deliverables.

Conduct site visits and field inspections to verify compliance with design intent and construction documents.

Collaborate with project managers, architects, contractors, and other engineering disciplines.

Resolve design-related issues during construction and provide technical support to project teams.

Mentor and oversee junior engineers and designers on project assignments.

Support the successful delivery of both small and large-scale building projects.

Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering discipline.

5+ years of experience in mechanical building systems design.

Professional Engineer (PE) license required.

Strong understanding of HVAC systems design and building mechanical systems.

Ability to interpret mechanical and plumbing construction documents.

Experience performing engineering calculations and equipment selection.

Proficiency with CADD software and Microsoft Office applications.

Strong communication and presentation skills.

Ability to work effectively with clients, contractors, and multidisciplinary project teams.

Design experience within commercial, institutional, industrial, healthcare, education, or mission-critical facilities.

Experience supporting projects through both design and construction phases.

Previous experience leading design efforts or mentoring junior staff.
