Capitol Design & Construction Services is a commercial sign company specializing in the fabrication and installation of illuminated and non-illuminated signage throughout the New York metropolitan area.
We are seeking a dependable Sign Installer Assistant to join our team. This position is ideal for someone with hands-on experience in construction or a related skilled trade who enjoys working outdoors and takes pride in quality workmanship.
The successful candidate will assist with the installation of commercial signs, including channel letters, cabinet signs, dimensional lettering, vinyl graphics, and other signage. Experience with hand and power tools, ladders, aerial lifts, and construction practices is strongly preferred.

Duties
- Assist with the installation of illuminated and non-illuminated commercial signs.
- Load, unload, organize, and transport signs, materials, and installation equipment.
- Assist with the installation of channel letters, cabinet signs, dimensional letters, vinyl graphics, and related signage.
- Safely operate hand and power tools.
- Assist with sign wiring and electrical connections under the direction of experienced installers.
- Work safely from ladders, aerial lifts, scaffolding, and bucket trucks.
- Read tape measures, follow shop drawings, and assist with accurate layout and installation.
- Maintain company vehicles, tools, and equipment.
- Keep job sites clean, organized, and professional.
- Follow all OSHA regulations and company safety procedures.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Experience in commercial sign installation, commercial construction, carpentry, electrical work, metal fabrication, welding, or a related skilled trade is strongly preferred.
- Basic mechanical aptitude and the ability to safely use hand and power tools.
- Ability to read a tape measure and follow shop drawings and installation layouts.
- Comfortable working outdoors in various weather conditions.
- Comfortable working at heights using ladders, aerial lifts, and bucket trucks.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 75 pounds.
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
- Strong work ethic, reliability, and attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- OSHA 10 certification is required. Candidates must either possess an OSHA 30 certification or be willing to obtain it within the first month of employment.
- Willingness to work overtime as needed.
