Position Summary:
Compassionate EMS is seeking a reliable and detail-oriented EMS Dispatcher to coordinate and manage non-emergency and emergency medical transportation services during overnight hours. The dispatcher plays a critical role in ensuring timely, efficient, and safe patient transport while maintaining clear communication with field crews, facilities, and patients.
Key Responsibilities:
- Receive, prioritize, and dispatch calls for medical transportation services
- Coordinate ambulance and wheelchair transport units based on location, availability, and urgency
- Maintain constant communication with EMTs, drivers, and medical facilities
- Monitor unit status and track vehicles throughout the shift
- Accurately document trip details, times, and patient information in dispatch systems
- Handle high call volumes in a calm and professional manner
- Resolve scheduling conflicts and respond to unexpected changes or delays
- Ensure compliance with company policies, HIPAA regulations, and safety standards
- Provide excellent customer service to hospitals, nursing facilities, and private clients
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent (required)
- Previous dispatching experience (EMS, transportation, or public safety preferred)
- Strong communication and multitasking skills
- Ability to work independently and make quick decisions under pressure
- Basic computer proficiency and familiarity with dispatch software
- Knowledge of local geography and medical facilities is a plus
Preferred Skills:
- Experience in EMS or healthcare environment
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) is a plus
- Strong organizational and problem-solving abilities
Work Environment:
- Primarily office-based with prolonged periods of sitting and computer use
Pay: $16.00 - $20.00 per hour
