Job Description:
Role Overview
The Food Manufacturing Shift Lead is responsible for supervising and coordinating daily production activities during their assigned shift to ensure efficiency, quality, and compliance with food safety standards. This role acts as the primary point of contact for production staff, ensuring smooth operations, proper documentation, and adherence to company policies and procedures. The Shift Lead plays a pivotal role in maintaining a safe and productive work environment, driving continuous improvement, and achieving production targets.
Key Responsibilities
Production Supervision:
- Oversee daily production activities, ensuring schedules are met and products are manufactured to quality standards.
- Monitor production lines to maintain efficiency and troubleshoot any operational issues.
- Assign tasks to team members based on production needs, skill levels, and roles.
Team Leadership:
- Act as the on-shift leader for production staff, providing guidance, support, and training as needed.
- Conduct regular team meetings to communicate shift objectives, address concerns, and ensure alignment with company goals.
- Foster a positive work environment that encourages teamwork and employee engagement.
Quality and Compliance:
- Ensure all production activities comply with food safety standards (e.g., HACCP, GMPs) and regulatory requirements.
- Conduct quality checks throughout the production process to verify product specifications and address any deviations.
- Maintain accurate records of production runs, batch numbers, and quality assurance documentation.
Safety and Maintenance:
- Promote a culture of safety by enforcing company safety policies and conducting routine safety checks.
- Address and report any safety hazards, equipment malfunctions, or maintenance needs.
- Train team members on proper equipment usage and safety protocols.
Continuous Improvement:
- Identify opportunities for process improvement and collaborate with management to implement changes.
- Monitor production metrics and suggest ways to enhance efficiency and reduce waste.
- Support the implementation of new procedures, equipment, or technologies.
Collaboration and Communication:
- Work closely with other departments, such as Quality Assurance and Maintenance, to ensure seamless operations.
- Communicate shift performance and any issues to the Production Manager or other relevant personnel.
- Ensure proper handoffs between shifts to maintain consistent production flow.
Qualifications:
- Proven experience (2+ years) in a shift lead role within a food manufacturing environment.
- Strong knowledge of food safety standards and regulatory requirements (e.g., HACCP, GMPs).
- Excellent leadership and team management skills, with the ability to motivate and develop staff.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to make decisions under pressure.
- Effective communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Proficiency in production management software and tools.
Working Conditions:
- Full-time position; shift-based schedule
- Must be able to work in a manufacturing environment, including exposure to varying temperatures, noise levels, and food production equipment.
- Requires the ability to lift and move materials as necessary, up to 40lbs.

Pay: $17.00 - $20.00 per hour
