Together, these factors support our mission of providing every student with the opportunity to receive a world-class education.Position SummaryThe K6 Physical Education Teacher is responsible for planning, delivering, and assessing high-quality physical education instruction that promotes physical fitness, teamwork, sportsmanship, and healthy lifestyles. The teacher collaborates with colleagues, communicates regularly with families, and contributes to a structured, positive learning environment that supports student growth and achievement.Essential FunctionsMaintain an organized and effective instructional environment.Plan and deliver engaging physical education lessons aligned with school expectations.Monitor, assess, and document student progress on a regular basis.Participate in all required professional development activities.Attend and actively participate in grade-level, Teacher Assistance Team (TAT), and staff meetings.Participate in IEP meetings as required.Complete peer practice sessions, if assigned.Communicate student progress and concerns with families and school staff.Complete progress reports, report cards, and grading responsibilities in accordance with school guidelines.Attend and conduct parent-teacher conferences.Participate in Back-to-School Night, Open Houses, the Holiday Performance, and Senior Luncheon.Fulfill assigned morning, lunch/recess, and afternoon supervisory duties.Support, enforce, and adhere to all school policies, procedures, and expectations.Perform duties assigned by school leadership, including the Lead Teacher, School Director, Assistant School Director, Business Manager, and Professional Development Coordinator.Maintain professionalism and collaborate effectively with students, families, colleagues, and administrators.QualificationsBachelor's degree required.Experience teaching physical education or leading organized youth athletic, recreational, or fitness programs preferred.Strong organizational, communication, and classroom management skills.Ability to build positive relationships with students, families, and colleagues.Must obtain required Massachusetts educator licensure and pass applicable MTEL examinations within one year of employment.
