Job Summary
Volunteer Tower Solutions is seeking an experienced and motivated Tower Lighting Foreman / Tiger Team to support and lead field operations across the Southeastern United States, including Georgia, Florida, Alabama, Tennessee, and surrounding states. This leadership role is responsible for overseeing tower lighting installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair projects while managing crew safety, productivity, and quality standards in the field.
The ideal candidate is an experienced tower professional with strong leadership abilities, advanced troubleshooting skills, and a commitment to maintaining safe and efficient job sites. Candidates should be comfortable working at heights, traveling extensively, coordinating directly with customers and the NOC, and leading crews on active tower projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and supervise tower crew during installation, maintenance, and repair of obstruction lighting systems on communication towers (0–500+ ft).
- Serve as the primary on-site crew leader responsible for job execution, safety compliance, productivity, and quality control.
- Troubleshoot tower lighting failures and oversee replacement and repair of lighting system components.
- Coordinate directly with the NOC (Network Operations Center) to test systems, verify repairs, and document project completion.
- Conduct pre-job safety briefings, enforce OSHA and company safety standards, and ensure proper use of PPE and climbing procedures.
- Train and mentor tower technicians on climbing practices, rigging, electrical troubleshooting, and job-site procedures.
- Ensure company vehicles, tools, climbing gear, and inventory remain organized, maintained, and field-ready.
- Manage job documentation, site photos, material tracking, and daily reporting.
- Travel regularly throughout the Southeast region with overnight stays as required.
- Maintain professionalism when interacting with customers, site representatives, utilities, and subcontractors.
Qualifications
Required:
- High school diploma or GED.
- 3+ years of tower industry, field electrical, or obstruction lighting experience.
- Prior experience acting as a crew lead, foreman, or senior technician preferred.
- Ability to obtain or maintain Competent Climber/Rescuer certification (training provided if needed).
- Strong understanding of electrical systems, troubleshooting methods, testing equipment, and climbing safety standards.
- Ability to safely climb and work at heights ranging from 0–500+ ft.
- Strong communication and leadership skills.
- Valid driver’s license with clean driving record.
- Willingness to travel extensively throughout the Southeast region.
- Ability to work flexible hours based on project demands and weather conditions.
- This is a safety-sensitive position. VTS maintains a drug and alcohol-free workplace. Employment is contingent upon passing a background check and drug screening.
Preferred:
- OSHA 10/30 certification.
- Competent Climber/Rescuer certification.
- First Aid/CPR certification.
- RF Awareness/Safety certification.
- Experience with obstruction lighting systems including Flash Technology, ITL, and TWR systems.
- Knowledge of remote monitoring, alarm systems, and controller diagnostics.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to climb communication towers and carry 50+ lbs of equipment safely.
- Comfortable working outdoors in varying Southeastern U.S. weather conditions including heat, humidity, cold, and wind.
- Ability to work extended hours, travel frequently, and perform physically demanding field work.
- Good manual dexterity and attention to detail when working with electrical and mechanical components.

Pay: $28.00 - $40.00 per hour
