JOB
Summary
Under general supervision, the purpose of this position is to provide certificate, diploma, A.A.S. programs on basic air conditioning, heating, and refrigeration trades. Employees in this classification perform instructional work. Position is responsible for teaching classes and instructing students; administering tests; evaluating work; and counseling students. Performs related work and other duties as assigned. EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Teach classes: instruct students on use of all types of equipment, gauges and gases used in the HVAC industry (18-21-hour teaching load day and/or evening).

Supervise work experience activities; evaluate student work.

Prepare lesson plans and activities; write course overviews and outlines.

Maintain labs, equipment, and perform general maintenance in the HVAC program.

Determine need for and requisition supplies; ensure proper storage and security of supplies; obtain quotes as needed.

Attend college-wide meetings; staff development conferences and workshops, attend faculty meetings.

Prepare attendance reports. Participate in program evaluation and plan.

Averages grades and prepares student grade reports.

Advise students.

Recruit new students for programs.

Supervise adjunct faculty.

SUPPLEMENTAL INFORMATION
Language Skills
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.

Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
Mathematical Skills

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.

Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:
Certification Required - EPA Section 608 Refrigerant Type II Certification minimum.
NC Heating Contractor’s License, NC Commercial Refrigeration License, or Multiple NATE Certified, any other HVACR Certifications a plus.
Computer Skills
Applicant must have basic computer and key boarding skills knowledge. A working knowledge of Microsoft office.
