We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Youth and Family Therapist to join our clinical team within our 10-Bed Psychiatric Residential Treatment Facility (PRTF) at Ruth Meiers Adolescent Center (RMAC).
At RMAC, we believe in providing transformative, high-quality care to the youth and families we serve. In this role, you will be responsible for delivering evidence-based therapeutic interventions to adolescents and their families, guiding them through complex emotional, behavioral, and psychiatric challenges. You will work within a highly collaborative, multidisciplinary team to ensure every youth receives individualized, trauma-informed treatment.
Average Case Load: 5 youth and families.
Key responsibilities include
- Direct Therapy: Conduct individual, group, and family therapy sessions tailored to the developmental and psychiatric needs of up to 10 youth and families.
- Family Engagement: Actively engage families and guardians in the treatment process, facilitating family therapy and providing psychoeducation to build supportive home environments.

Crisis Management: Provide crisis intervention and de-escalation support, utilizing trauma-informed approaches to safely manage acute behavioral needs.

Care Integration: Champion therapeutic models to ensure consistent, high-quality clinical care across all interactions.

Assessments: Complete comprehensive psychosocial assessments, diagnostic assessments, and risk evaluations upon admission and throughout the residential stay.

Treatment Plans: Develop, implement, and continuously monitor individualized treatment plans in collaboration with the medical, psychiatric, and direct care teams.

Discharge Planning: Work proactively with the youth, their family, and community resources to create robust step-down and discharge plans for a successful transition out of residential care.
Location
ND HHS utilizes a blended workplace model. This position provides essential client services face to face and therefore the person in this position needs to be able to travel to meet clients at their location.

Minimum Qualifications
Position Qualifications

Must be 21 years of age or older, possess a valid driver's license, successfully pass all required background checks; AND
-
Education: Master's degree in Social Work, Counseling, Marriage and Family Therapy, or a closely related clinical field; AND

Licensure: Fully licensed (e.g., LCSW, LPCC, LMFT) or actively working toward full licensure in the state of practice.; OR
-
A Doctorate in Psychology and ND licensure as a Psychologist by the ND Board of Psychologist Examiners.
We will consider filling this position as a Behavioral Health Counselor at a reduced rate for outstanding candidates.
To be eligible, you must meet one of the following education/licensing combinations:
- A master's degree in Counseling, with LAPC licensure, and within two years of LPCC licensure; OR
- A master's degree in Social Work and LMSW licensure; OR
- A master's degree in Counseling and LPC licensure. (Details regarding licensure status and the number of training hours already obtained must be submitted with the application.)
Hiring Preference: preference will be given to candidates with
- Experience: Minimum of two (2) years of clinical experience providing therapy to adolescents and families. Prior experience in a residential treatment facility, PRTF, or intensive outpatient setting is highly preferred.

Dual Licensure: Dually licensed individuals who also possess a North Dakota LAC or LMAC in addition to a mental Health clinical license
