The Senior Vice President of Operations reports to the President and Chief Executive Officer and serves as a member of the executive management team. This position provides strategic leadership and oversight for the operations, performance, and continuous improvement of the organization’s programs. The Senior Vice President ensures that programs operate efficiently, achieve established outcomes, comply with grant and contract requirements, and remain aligned with the Buffalo Urban League’s mission and strategic priorities.
The position leads and develops program staff and supervisors, strengthens coordination across program areas, monitors program budgets and performance, and collaborates with Finance and Human Resources.
Leads, manages, and coordinates the day-to-day operations of multiple program areas, ensuring effective coordination among programs and with other departments.
Evaluates and improves operational systems, workflows, policies, procedures, and performance measures to support consistent, efficient, and high-quality program delivery.
Builds strategic partnerships and develops special projects and initiatives with external partners.
Establishes and maintains relationships with nonprofit organizations, government agencies, funders, and community partners to expand resources, identify funding opportunities, and increase public awareness of Buffalo Urban League programs and services.
Develops and implements procedures for monitoring the quality and quantity of services delivered, measuring outputs and outcomes, achieving organizational goals, and meeting grant and contract requirements.
Monitors the scopes of service for multiple contracts and ensures compliance with performance targets, reporting requirements, and expected deliverables.
Assists with identifying grant and contract opportunities and supports grant writing and proposal development.
Prepares accurate and timely financial and programmatic grant reports for review by the CEO, Finance department, and funders.
Attracts, retains, trains, supervises, coaches, and develops assigned staff while strengthening leadership capacity and accountability across program operations.
Develops and monitors program budgets and expenditures.
Meets regularly with Finance and direct reports to review contract expenditures, ensure the appropriate allocation of resources, and provide the information necessary for the timely billing of contracts and grants.
Collaborates with the Board, CEO, and other stakeholders in developing the organization’s strategic plan and leads its implementation and execution across assigned program operations.
Performs other duties and assumes additional operational responsibilities as assigned based on the organization’s evolving needs.
