Job Summary
We are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Maintenance Assistant to support our facilities maintenance team. The ideal candidate will possess strong mechanical, electrical, and technical skills, with a focus on ensuring the safety, functionality, and cleanliness of our healthcare facilities. This role offers an opportunity to contribute to a caring environment by maintaining the physical infrastructure that supports quality resident care.
Responsibilities
- Perform routine maintenance tasks including plumbing, electrical repairs, and general mechanical troubleshooting to ensure facility operations run smoothly.
- Assist with building repairs such as drywall work, painting (including residential painting), and carpentry projects.
- Operate tools and equipment such as schematics, ohmmeters, and Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs) for diagnostics and repairs.
- Support facilities maintenance activities by managing work orders through Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS).
- Conduct inspections of equipment and infrastructure to identify potential issues before they impact operations or safety.
- Collaborate with team members to supervise minor projects and ensure adherence to safety standards.
- Maintain accurate documentation of maintenance activities and inventory of parts and supplies.
Requirements
- Proven experience in facilities maintenance within healthcare, manufacturing, or residential environments.
- Mechanical knowledge with familiarity in schematics, electrical systems, welding, and troubleshooting using tools like ohmmeters.
- Basic understanding of Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs) and electrical systems is preferred.
- Experience with welding, residential painting, and general carpentry tasks is advantageous.
- Strong communication skills in English for effective coordination with team members and vendors.
- Supervising experience or leadership skills are a plus for supporting team efforts.
- Knowledge of CMMS software for work order management is desirable.
