Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Emergency Department leader to oversee operations across two high-volume emergency departments within a leading regional health system in Albuquerque.
This is a high-impact leadership role responsible for driving operational excellence, patient flow, staff engagement, quality outcomes, and regulatory compliance across both ED sites operating under a shared staffing model.
The Director will serve as a key leader in shaping culture, strengthening team performance, and ensuring consistent, high-quality emergency care delivery in a fast-paced acute care environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide 24/7 operational leadership for two emergency departments across multiple hospital sites
- Lead overall strategy for patient flow, staffing, quality, and departmental performance
- Build strong relationships with physicians and interdisciplinary hospital leaders
- Drive employee engagement, retention, and leadership development
- Oversee quality improvement initiatives, compliance, and regulatory readiness
- Develop and manage departmental budgets, staffing models, and productivity targets
- Partner across service lines including Behavioral Health, ICU, and Med-Surg to optimize throughput
- Lead culture-building efforts focused on accountability, communication, and teamwork
- Support community outreach and hospital visibility initiatives
- Ensure consistent follow-through on operational and staff concerns
Required Qualifications
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license
- Bachelor’s degree in Nursing (BSN required; enrollment with completion plan acceptable if not yet completed)
- Minimum 5 years of clinical nursing experience
- At least 2–3 years of leadership or management experience in a hospital setting
Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s degree in Nursing or related healthcare field
- Prior Emergency Department leadership experience strongly preferred
- Certification in nursing leadership or clinical specialty preferred
