Epicure Foods Corporation is a well-established specialty food importer and distributor serving retailers, distributors, and gourmet markets throughout the Northeast. We are seeking an experienced Senior Accountant to join our growing accounting team.
This position will serve as the lead for the Accounts Payable function while supporting the overall accounting operations of the company. The ideal candidate is an experienced accounting professional who enjoys improving processes, maintaining strong financial controls, and working collaboratively across departments.
Primary Responsibilities
- Manage the full Accounts Payable process from invoice receipt through payment
- Review, verify, and approve vendor invoices for accuracy
- Match invoices with purchase orders and receiving documentation
- Prepare weekly check runs and electronic payments
- Reconcile vendor statements and resolve discrepancies
- Maintain vendor records and establish new vendors
- Process employee expense reimbursements
- Assist with month-end and year-end closing activities
- Prepare account reconciliations and journal entries related to Accounts Payable
- Support external auditors by providing requested documentation
- Ensure compliance with company policies and accounting procedures
- Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes and internal controls
- Work closely with Purchasing, Warehouse, Sales, and Executive Management to resolve invoice and payment issues
- Assist with special accounting projects as assigned
- Perform other accounting and finance related duties, projects and responsibilities assigned to support the ongoing needs to the department and organization
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance
- 5+ years of progressive accounting experience
- Strong Accounts Payable experience required
- Experience with month-end close and general ledger accounting
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills
- Experience using ERP/accounting software
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
- Strong organizational skills with exceptional attention to detail
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
- Professional communication skills and a collaborative mindset
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in distribution, manufacturing, or wholesale food industry
- Experience improving accounting workflows and internal controls
- Supervisory or team lead experience is a plus
- CPA or CPA-track is a plus

Schedule
Monday-Friday
9:00 AM - 5:00 PM. This position may require occasional additional hours to support month-end close, year-end activities, audits, system implementations, and other business-critical deadlines.
Pay: $95,000.00 - $120,000.00 per year
