POSITION SUMMARY
The carpenter / cabinet maker to be a part of the production team, specializing in setting up and tearing down custom exhibits for the trade show industry.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
- Read drawings, and build designs to given specifications.
- Laminate and rout per specs.
- Participates in training in the areas of shop safety and production.
- Safely operates power tools and related equipment to manufacture individually designed wood crates for the handling, packing, and shipping of modular aluminum exhibit structures.
- Understands how to work with multiple materials (aluminum, wood, steel, adhesives).
- Prepares packing materials according to a variety of design specifications.
- Repairs damaged crates and assists with building new crating.
- Performs shop maintenance, safety inspections, and other incidental and related duties as required and assigned.
DESIRED SKILLS & ATTRIBUTES
- Previous laminating, routing, and/or production carpentry/exhibit experience preferred.
- Must be able to read and build from blueprints.
- Knowledge of general shop safety and the following power tools and their recommended safety requirements: table saw, radial arm saw, panel saw, belt and orbital sanders, pneumatic staplers and nailers, band saws, power drills and an assortment of other hand tools.
- Excellent precision and attention to detail.
- Ability to speak effectively to coworkers.
- Strong attention to detail and follow-through.
- Must be a team player, with the ability to follow instructions.
- Must be self-motivated and able to work well under pressure.
Qualifications:
- High school degree or equivalent (college/trade school experience is a plus).
- 5 years experience with carpentry / wood working.
- 5 years’ experience working with shop tools (table saws, routers, etc.).
- Familiarity with aluminum fabrication is a plus.
- Laminating and routing experience.
- Organized self-starter.
- Willingness to learn new things every day.
- Capable of working in a challenging, fast-paced, and ever-changing environment.
- Must be authorized to work in the United States.
- ***Fluency in Spanish is a plus***
Physical Requirements:
- Must be able to lift and handle 40-50 pounds worth of material.
Scheduling/Hours:
Candidates must show a willingness to work as necessary to finish projects on time. You, will be required to work the necessary hours, including overtime and weekends when needed in order to meet project/company needs and deadlines.
