Set up and operate CNC milling machines to produce precision metallic and nonmetallic parts according to specifications.
Job Requirements
- High school diploma or GED
- Vocational/technical training or Advanced Manufacturing certification preferred
- Experience setting up CNC milling machines
- Ability to read and follow setup instructions, tool sheets, and machining documentation
- Experience adjusting tool offsets, fixture offsets, and cutter compensation
- Ability to identify out-of-tolerance conditions and make necessary adjustments
- Experience loading/unloading materials and handling machined parts
Job Responsibilities
- Set up CNC milling machines for production runs, including fixtures and tooling installation
- Align and secure cutting tools and tool holders per setup documentation
- Retrieve and verify correct CNC programs and download to machines
- Operate machines to produce parts within specified tolerances
- Monitor machine operations and adjust offsets to maintain part quality
- Perform first-piece inspections and obtain required approvals
- Load raw materials and unload finished parts from machines
- Deburr parts as required for inspection and safety
- Perform daily maintenance checks and housekeeping around machines
- Document setup and production results
Preferred Skills
- Experience with multi-machine setup and operation
- Familiarity with CNC programming revisions and version control
- Experience working with precision machining and tight tolerances
- Knowledge of machining best practices and production workflows
