Heavy Equipment Shop Technician (Entry Level)
Location: Chelmsford, MA
Commonwealth Construction & Utilities is looking for a motivated Shop Technician who wants to build a career working on heavy construction equipment and diesel trucks.
This is a great opportunity for someone with basic mechanical knowledge who wants to learn from experienced mechanics. If you're dependable, take pride in your work, and enjoy being around equipment, we'd like to meet you.
Responsibilities
- Grease and perform preventative maintenance on excavators, loaders, skid steers, trucks, and other heavy equipment.
- Power wash equipment and keep the fleet clean and ready for the field.
- Assist mechanics with repairs and maintenance on diesel trucks and heavy equipment.
- Pick up and deliver parts using a company truck.
- Organize the shop and parts inventory.
- Help prepare equipment for upcoming jobs.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized shop.
Winter Responsibilities
- Operate snow plows and assist with snow removal operations.
- Power wash and clean sanders, plows, and snow equipment.
- Service and prepare equipment for winter storms.
- Assist with repairs and maintenance during the snow season.
Qualifications
- Mechanical aptitude and an interest in diesel engines or heavy equipment.
- Basic experience with hand tools.
- Reliable, hardworking, and eager to learn.
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
- Ability to lift 50 pounds and work indoors and outdoors in all weather conditions.
- CDL is a plus but not required.
