The Mechanic is responsible for the repair, service, and preventive maintenance of vehicles and equipment used by Lindsay Precast, Inc. This position diagnoses, troubleshoots, and repairs diesel and gasoline engines, transmissions, vehicle suspensions, braking systems, hydraulic systems, electrical systems, and electronic systems.

Diagnose, rebuild, service, and repair company vehicles and equipment.

Inspect, service, and repair forklifts, loaders, concrete delivery vehicles, skid steers, and related equipment.

Perform trailer repairs, including tires, wiring, and air brake systems.

Perform scheduled inspections and preventive maintenance on vehicles and equipment.

Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair diesel and gasoline engines, including electronic and non-electronic systems.

Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair manual, automatic, and electronically controlled transmissions.

Inspect and repair vehicle suspension systems and mechanical, air, and ABS braking systems.

Use appropriate tools and diagnostic equipment to troubleshoot and repair hydraulic, electrical, and electronic systems.

Communicate with personnel from other departments regarding maintenance needs, repair status, and scheduling of repairs.

Ensure all maintenance and repairs are performed safely and in accordance with OSHA guidelines.

Ensure equipment used for servicing and repairs conforms to applicable OSHA standards.

Operate department vehicles and equipment as required when trained and authorized.

Create and maintain accurate, timely, and complete maintenance and repair records.

Perform other duties and special projects as assigned.
Work Environment and Equipment

Work is generally performed indoors in the shop within a smoke-free environment.

Work may also be performed outdoors and throughout the facility as equipment problems arise.

The position requires the use of tools and equipment necessary to diagnose, troubleshoot, service, and repair company vehicles and equipment.

High school diploma or equivalent required; mechanic certification preferred.

Minimum of five years of experience as a mechanic, including at least three years of diesel engine experience and two years of heavy-equipment experience.

Valid driver’s license and ability to safely operate a motor vehicle; Class A CDL preferred.

Legal authorization to work in the United States.

Working knowledge of diesel and gasoline engines, transmissions, suspension systems, and mechanical, air, and ABS braking systems.

Basic electrical troubleshooting and repair skills preferred.

Working knowledge of hydraulic principles as they apply to pumps, valves, and fluid flow.

Knowledge of occupational hazards and required safety precautions.

Ability to work independently, accurately, and with minimal supervision.

Ability to report to work on time and complete responsibilities within established deadlines.

Excellent oral communication skills.

Ability to concentrate and complete tasks despite interruptions.

Ability to perform multiple tasks simultaneously.

Sufficient physical ability to work in a variety of positions, including awkward or tiring positions, to complete repairs.

Ability to perform repair and maintenance duties indoors or outdoors under varying weather conditions.

Ability to perform the duties of the position throughout the entire workday.

Ability to work occasional overtime as business needs require.
