This role is responsible for developing and maintaining strong relationships with electrical distributors to drive sales growth for the lighting manufacturers represented by our agency. This role focuses on promoting lighting products, supporting distributor sales teams, increasing product awareness, and identifying new project and specification opportunities within the assigned territory.
Key Responsibilities:
Distributor Relationship Management
- Develop and maintain strong working relationships with key electrical distributors and their sales teams.
- Conduct regular visits to distributor branches to provide product training, updates, and sales support.
- Serve as the primary contact between the agency, manufacturers, and distributor partners.
Sales Growth & Market Development
- Drive sales growth by promoting represented lighting manufacturers’ products within distributor networks.
- Identify and pursue new sales opportunities including commercial and industrial projects.
- Work closely with distributor counter staff and outside sales representatives to generate demand.
Product Training & Education
- Deliver product presentations, demonstrations, and training sessions for distributor personnel.
- Ensure distributor teams are knowledgeable about product features, benefits, and applications.
Project & Opportunity Management
- Track and follow up on project opportunities from distributors and contractors.
- Coordinate with internal sales support and manufacturers to provide quotations, product selections, and technical assistance.
Market Intelligence
- Monitor market trends, competitive activity, and customer feedback.
- Provide insights and reporting to agency leadership and manufacturers.
Sales Reporting
- Maintain accurate records of sales activities, opportunities, and distributor engagement in CRM systems.
- Provide regular updates on sales progress and pipeline.
Qualifications:
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, Engineering, or related field preferred (or equivalent experience).
Experience
- 2–5+ years of sales experience, preferably in lighting, electrical, or construction-related industries preferred
- Experience working with electrical distributors is highly preferred
Skills
- Strong relationship-building and communication skills.
- Ability to present and train effectively to groups.
- Self-motivated with strong organizational and time management abilities.
- Proficiency with CRM systems and Microsoft Office.
