Job Summary:
We are seeking a team oriented, compassionate equine professional to join our team as a veterinary assistant. The veterinary assistant’s job is to assist the veterinarian throughout the examination, diagnosis, treatment and billing of each appointment.
Duties:
- Drive ambulatory vehicle to and from appointments
- Assist veterinarian with all procedures and diagnostics
- Safe and proper horse handling skills and restraint.
- Billing and obtaining payment from clients on the farm
- Maximize the efficiency of the veterinarians with organized stocking of vehicle and attention to detail.
- Ensure all labwork is processed in-house or sent to outside labs for processing
- Maintain a clean and organized ambulatory vehicle and hospital
- Familiarize yourself with equine veterinary terminology and maintain a thorough understanding of the practice's policies and procedures.
- Keep track of inventory, create and update order list
- Process in-house labwork including but not limited to CBC, chemistry, SAA, fecals, PCV, IgG and cultures.
- Properly record use of control substances/record keeping
- Collaborate with other staff members to ensure efficient and effective operations
- Provide exceptional customer service, addressing any concerns in a professional and courteous manner and directing client questions to the veterinarian.
Requirements:
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent required
- Valid driver's license required
- Must be able to lift 50lbs
- Must be able to safely jog horses for exams, safely lunge and restrain horses, work in inclement weather
- Must be able to be on feet working for up to 8-10 hours per day
- Equine experience required. Veterinary experience preferred.

- Communication skills-able to communicate with others professionally and effectively. Maintain emotional composure in all interactions while at work
- Highly organized and detail oriented
- Safe and competent horse handling skills

Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $15.00 - $18.00 per hour
Expected hours: 32 – 40 per week
