Job Summary
At Valley Custom Carpentry, you'll bring interiors to life with precision and artistry. As an Experienced Finish Carpenter, you’ll lead the installation of trim, millwork, doors, windows, stair systems, and other fine wood details—ensuring impeccable fit, finish, and alignment that reflect our standards of excellence.
Key Responsibilities
- Interpret blueprints, drawings, and job plans to layout precise measurements and angles for Valley Custom Carpentry projects.
- Measure, cut, shape, and install trim, molding, casing, baseboards, crown, wainscoting, doors, windows, stair components, architectural millwork, and decorative fixtures in line with company craftsmanship standards.
- Utilize hand tools (chisels, planes, blocks) and power tools (saws, nailers, routers, sanders) safely and effectively during Valley Custom Carpentry installations.
- Install and adjust doors, windows, and hardware for smooth, functional operation.
- Erect and safely use ladders and scaffolding when required on-site.
- Maintain clean, organized Valley Custom Carpentry job sites; adhere to all safety protocols, PPE requirements, and building code standards.
- Coordinate with project managers, contractors, architects, designers, painters, and apprentices; mentor junior carpenters when necessary to uphold the Valley Custom Carpentry standard.
- Troubleshoot on-site fit, measurement issues, material challenges, and design discrepancies promptly and professionally.
- Assist with material selection and procurement; verify quality and order supplies as needed to meet Valley Custom Carpentry project specs.
Qualifications & Skills
Essential:
- 3+ years of experience in finish carpentry or custom millwork, with proficiency in residential and/or commercial projects.
- Strong blueprint reading, layout, and measuring abilities.
- Skilled use of hand and power tools common to trim, millwork, and finish work.
- Exceptional attention to detail—tight joints, clean lines, and craftsmanship expected at Valley Custom Carpentry.
- Strong problem-solving skills and adaptability on site.
- Excellent communication and teamwork; comfortable client interaction.
- Physical stamina and ability to lift, climb ladders, and work in variable conditions.
Preferred:
- Experience with high‑end custom millwork, stairs, built‑ins, and specialty finish details.
- Leadership experience mentoring crew members.
- Familiarity with sustainable materials, advanced tools, or carpentry software.
Working Conditions
- Work on residential and commercial interiors for Valley Custom Carpentry—both new builds and renovations; travel between sites required.
- Frequent use of ladders, scaffolding, and hand/power tools; job environments may be dusty or dimly lit.
- Full‑time position with occasional overtime or weekend work to meet project schedules.
