American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN First Assistant (RNFA) for a hospital OR position requiring cardiac, vascular, endovascular, or thoracic surgical experience and an active CSFA, NBSTSA, or NCCSA certification.

Hospital operating room setting in an RNFA role

Day shift schedule, 3x12-hour shifts (6:30 AM – 7:00 PM)

Weekends are only required during on-call periods

On-call required approximately 1 day per week and 1 weekend every 4 weeks, subject to change based on departmental needs

Floating required within scope of practice within the facility and to the Main OR as needed

16-week contract

Active GA or Compact RN license required

Active CSFA, NBSTSA, or NCCSA certification required

Current BLS certification required

Minimum 2 years of RNFA experience required

Cardiac, vascular, endovascular, and/or thoracic surgical experience required

Two supervisory references (Manager level or above; charge nurse references not accepted) are highly preferred for consideration

This position requires a privileging process prior to start, with an approximate timeline of 3 months from time of signature — candidates should plan accordingly

A clinical screening will be conducted on a case-by-case basis to determine clinical fit before a manager review

No scheduling requests or alternate shift arrangements are permitted — the posted day shift is firm

RTO must be submitted at time of consideration; no RTO requests during the first week of the assignment, and a maximum of 7 days of RTO is allowed
-
No holiday RTO is accepted if one or two major holidays fall within the assignment period; if three major holidays fall within the assignment period, one holiday RTO request may be reviewed for approval — major holidays include Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving/Black Friday, Christmas Eve/Christmas Day, and New Year's Eve/New Year's Day

Travel pairs will not be assigned to the same shift on the same unit

Travelers who have previously worked at any facility within this health system must be away for a full year before returning as a traveler
