Outside Sales Representative
Allumette Home | Scottsdale, AZ | Full-Time
The Company
Allumette Home is the trade resource built for interior designers who work at a higher standard.
We are not a showroom people wander into off the street. We are the pricing, the relationships, and the procurement infrastructure that would take a designer a decade to build on their own, already assembled and already working.
Amy Sutherland didn't enter this trade. She was born into it. Three generations of builders came before her. One standard runs under everything we carry: get it right. Every vendor on our floor, Black Label Home, Moss Home, Slabhaus, Libeco, Rene Cazares, Adriana Hoyos, was vetted against that standard, not chosen for margin.
We are not the ultra-exclusive, untouchable trade house. We are not a discount showroom either. We are the Porsche. Livable elegance. Something you use every day, built by people who know exactly what they're doing.
The Role
We are hiring an outside sales representative to grow Allumette's designer network, starting in Scottsdale and expanding from there. This is not a retail job. You will not stand behind a counter waiting for someone to walk in. You will be in the field, in design studios, at home offices, at industry events, meeting manufacturers, building the relationships that turn a designer into a member and a member into a referral engine.
You will work directly with Amy and the Allumette team to identify, approach, and close designers who fit our standard: independent and small-firm designers running $500K to $5M+ projects, the kind of designers who have the high end client base and need a partner who understands what that means.
This role has a ceiling that moves with you. Get it right, and you are not just selling memberships. You are building the referral network that becomes Allumette's next market.
What You'll Do
- Identify and approach interior designers who match our ideal client profile: independent, growing, doing serious project volume, currently locked out of real trade pricing.
- Run in-person meetings, studio visits, and client walkthroughs that turn a cold introduction into a signed member.
- Represent Allumette at trade shows, industry events, and our Lunch & Learn series, building relationships that do not need a discount to close.
- Know every vendor line well enough to speak to it like you built it: what Libeco linen is actually worth, why Moss Home is not mass-produced, why Slabhaus concrete holds up in a $4M kitchen.
- Manage your own pipeline. Track every conversation and every follow-up. Nothing falls through.
- Report directly to Amy on pipeline, close rate, and what you're hearing in the field. You are our eyes on the ground.
- Help scale the model into new markets as the network grows.
Who You Are
- You understand design. Not in theory. You can walk into a room and know whether the sofa is correct or just expensive. You know the difference between a $6M home with a $3K foyer piece and a home that actually earns its price tag.
- You know how to talk to people who are used to being sold to and are tired of it: designers, architects, builders, and the clients they answer to. You read a room, you read a budget, and you know the difference between a prospect who's ready and one who's still shopping.
- You are an outside sales person to your core. You do not wait for leads to land in your inbox.
- You are driven, self-managed, and comfortable being the one who makes the first call, walks into the studio, and asks for the meeting.
- You are organized. You do not lose a lead because you forgot to follow up. Your pipeline is your responsibility and you treat it that way.
- You want to grow with a company that is moving fast. Allumette is expanding past Scottsdale. If you want a territory that is still being built, and the chance to build it, this is the seat.
Requirements
- Outside sales, business development, or trade sales experience. Interior design, furniture, building materials, or luxury goods background strongly preferred.
- Working knowledge of interior design, high-end furnishings, or luxury home construction.
- You do not need to be a designer. You need to know how they think and what they'reactually buying.
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation. This is a field role.
- Based in or willing to relocate to the greater Phoenix/Scottsdale area.
