You start the week reviewing your schedule from your home base, then head out to customer labs across Wisconsin, Minnesota, and Illinois (with occasional trips to nearby states). Each day, you’re the face of LECO—installing new analytical or metallographic instruments, diagnosing issues, completing repairs, and guiding users on best practices for operation, software, and routine care. You close service tickets aligned to our ISO-accredited quality standards, document findings, and keep customers running with minimal downtime. Travel may run up to five days a week, with as many as four overnight hotel stays Monday through Friday. When you’re not on the road, you’re refreshing your skills through training and knowledge-sharing with fellow field engineers.
Location note: The ideal candidate is based near Green Bay, WI. This is a full-time, remote, salaried role with regular travel. A $5,000 signing bonus is available.

Deliver preventive maintenance, troubleshoot complex issues, and complete corrective repairs on analytical and metallographic instruments.

Install new systems and apply updates or upgrade kits as released.

Train users on theory, operation, software workflows, and practical maintenance routines.

Document work and uphold LECO’s ISO-accredited processes on every visit.

Self-starter mindset with excellent written and verbal communication.

Professional presence and strict adherence to each site’s safety procedures.

Strong organization and attention to detail.

Willingness to attend initial instrumentation training at LECO in St. Joseph, MI for 3–5 months, plus annual service training thereafter.

Ability to travel daily with up to four overnight stays per week (Mon–Fri).

Valid driver’s license and clean driving record.

Personal credit card, or the ability to obtain one.

Solid mechanical aptitude; familiarity with AC and DC electronics (or the ability to learn quickly).

Chemistry or military experience is a plus.

Two-year technical degree or trade school, or
-
Prior military experience with technical training, or
-
Equivalent technical training or experience.
