American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for an Intermediate Care Unit (IMCU) position at a Magnet, Level II Trauma, academic teaching hospital in Salem, OR, requiring active OR licensure and telemetry experience.

Short-term acute care hospital setting — Magnet-designated, teaching facility, and Level II Trauma Center with 569 staffed beds

Intermediate Care Unit (IMCU), a Gold Beacon Award recipient from the AACN
-
Complex patient population including acute and chronic respiratory failure, sepsis, renal and kidney failure, metabolic encephalopathy, DKA, A-fib, heart failure, GI bleed, NSTEMI, unstable angina, and drug ingestion/overdose
-
IMCU serves as overflow for the CVCU, including post-ablation, post-pacer, and post-angio patients (sheath credentialing not required, but familiarity is helpful)

Patient ratios: RN 1:3–4; CNA 1:6–13 on days, 1:10–13 on nights

12-hour night shifts, 7:00 PM – 7:30 AM (3x12 schedule)

Every other weekend required

Floating within scope may be required, including to a nearby sister hospital

Epic EMR — experience required, no exceptions

13-week contract

Local candidates accepted

Active Oregon (OR) RN license required — pending licenses not accepted

Current BLS certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) required

ACLS preferred

Minimum 1 year of MS/Tele/PCU experience within the last 3 years required

Telemetry experience required, including cardiac rhythm interpretation, management of dysrhythmias, and telemetry monitoring

Experience with cardiac drips (nitroglycerin, Cardizem, amiodarone, Nicardipine, and other IMCU-level drips) required
-
Required clinical skills: IV start, O2 protocol, non-invasive airway management, peripheral line care/management, isolation precautions/PPE, and rapid response team activation

Epic EMR experience required

Conscious sedation and ventilator experience preferred

COVID vaccination required — no exemptions

Traveler experience preferred

Nurses care for patients holistically and collaborate with multiple disciplines throughout the patient's hospital stay
-
RTO requests exceeding 2 weeks require approval; RTO must be declared prior to submission and cannot be changed once submitted — additional requests may result in cancellation

Candidates who have previously worked at this facility must have been gone for at least 6 months before returning as a traveler
