Our client, a leader in manufacturing is seeking a dedicated CNC Programmer to join their team. As a CNC Programmer, you will be part of the Manufacturing Engineering Department supporting production and process improvement initiatives.
Job Title: CNC Programmer | Contract to Hire role
Location: Grand Rapids, Michigan
Pay Range:$35-45/HR
What's the Job?
- Coordinate closely between Design and Manufacturing to ensure new jobs run smoothly from concept through production, resolving ambiguities before they reach the craftspeople.
- Oversee the development of physical machine setups, fixtures, and tooling, refining machining strategies based on real-world machine behavior and material response.
- Create and maintain supporting documentation, including setup instructions, machining notes, and tooling requirements to clearly communicate expectations to machine operators and planning teams.
- Lead the creation and maintenance of executable CNC machine programs for wood operations, translating engineering outputs into reliable production workflows.
What's Needed?
- 3+ years of experience in a manufacturing engineering environment, with a focus on CNC programming, machine setup, and process engineering.
- Experience in wood operations, millwork, or furniture manufacturing is preferred.
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related discipline preferred; highly experienced candidates with demonstrated shop-floor CNC skill sets will be considered.
- Advanced proficiency in CAM programming software and interpreting CAD models.
- Strong technical understanding of CNC machining principles, including feeds and speeds, sequence planning, and fixture design.
