Key Responsibilities
Prepare and submit recurring invoices to public and private funding sources in accordance with contract terms
Maintain thorough documentation to support funding requirements, audits, and regulatory compliance
Perform budget-to-actual analysis, identify variances, and recommend actionable solutions
Review general ledger activity, reconcile discrepancies, and record necessary journal entries
Track and forecast program and grant spending; collaborate with department leaders to review financial performance and update budgets as needed
Deliver advanced financial analysis, including trend evaluations and scenario modeling, to support strategic planning
Assist with special initiatives such as new program rollouts, process improvements, and cost allocation assessments
Partner with internal teams to develop budgets for grant proposals and produce financial reports for funders
Review and process labor allocation reports tied to federally funded programs
Collaborate with HR to maintain accurate salary allocations and staffing models aligned with grant budgets
Support audit processes, including preparation of confirmations, schedules, and supporting documentation
Contribute to organization-wide financial forecasting on a recurring basis and present insights to leadership
Provide mentorship and guidance to junior team members to ensure accuracy and consistency in reporting
Complete ad hoc financial analyses and reports as requested
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field (advanced degree a plus)
3+ years of progressive experience in accounting, financial analysis, or financial management; nonprofit experience preferred
Strong understanding of GAAP and nonprofit accounting standards; familiarity with grant and government funding compliance highly desirable
Proficiency in accounting systems and Microsoft Office (Excel required)
Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret data and drive process improvements
Highly organized with strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities
Effective communicator with the ability to collaborate across teams and present financial insights clearly
Self-starter who takes initiative and thrives in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
High level of professionalism, integrity, and discretion when handling sensitive information
Comfortable working in a diverse and collaborative environment
