Lake Geneva Country Meats is a family-owned butcher shop since 1965. In addition to our full-service meat counter, we operate a deli kitchen producing fresh salads, entrées, and prepared foods daily for our retail case. The Job
As a Kitchen Assistant, you will work alongside our Retail Kitchen Manager to prepare deli salads, entrées, and prepared foods according to established recipes. This is hands-on work in an active, fast-paced kitchen environment.
Responsibilities:
- Prepare deli salads, entrées, and prepared foods according to company recipes
- Stock the deli case according to a set plan
- Maintain a clean and organized kitchen, including utensils, dishes, and workspace
- Perform other duties as assigned
What We're Looking For
Prior professional kitchen experience is not required, but a working knowledge of basic cooking techniques and terminology is expected. We place a strong emphasis on dependability, a positive attitude, and the ability to work well as part of a team. Above all, we are looking for someone who can commit to consistent attendance and reliably follow direction.
Schedule
This is a full-time position with a consistent, week-based schedule. It is a good fit for someone looking for stability rather than unpredictable or rotating shifts.
Physical Requirements

Ability to stand for the duration of an 8-hour shift (breaks provided)
- Ability to lift up to 40 pounds
- Ability to safely work with sharp tools and near open flame
- Ability to work in varying temperature environments, including a hot kitchen, coolers (approximately 40°F), and freezers (approximately 0°F)
- Fluent verbal and written communication in English
