Job Summary:
The Engineering technician will support assembly and test of key components & specific engineering projects. Maintain data integrity for standard and experimental lots. Sets up processing equipment and performs minor adjustments to equipment within guidelines. Designs and executes test runs and disseminates results to facilitate engineering designs. Works with minimal Engineering supervision. Performs physical set-up (installation, facilitation, commissioning) of various Engineering lab pieces of equipment.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Provides technical assistance to engineering personnel as required.
- Works with design engineers to perform technical tests and experiments for process development, qualification, monitoring and process improvement.
- Maintains equipment and/or works with internal and external personnel to support efficient and reliable tool operation.
- Designs, develops, implements, tests, documents, and maintains scientific and engineering process applications.
- Performs electro-mechanical assembly of prototypes from limited Assembly drawings; provides feedback to Engineering team
- Redlines Engineering drawings and Bills of Materials
- Suggests manufacturing procedures, assembly and test procedures
REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- Associates Degree in related field preferred, and fifteen (15) years of related lab technician experience in custom manufacturing or pilot line production environment; OR, Any equivalent combination of experience and/or education from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been achieved.
- Soldering experience is highly desired.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- Knowledge of Microsoft office and computer literacy required
- Good communication verbally and in writing.
- Knowledge of relevant engineering practices and design methodologies.
- Hands-on experience with assembly of various items (bearings, linear guides, gantries, echains, cables, hoses, etc.)
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
- Understanding mechanical and electrical engineering drawings and schematics
- Hands-on experience building simple cables
- Experience communicating technical ideas and designs in a positive and professional manner.
- Experience performing independent Engineering tests.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
- The physical demands for this position are moderate. This position requires use of computer use, standing and sitting for extensive periods of time, the ability to reach, and lift up to 40lbs.
