Job Summary
We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Welder Leader to oversee and coordinate welding operations in a manufacturing atmosphere. This role combines technical expertise with leadership skills to ensure high-quality welding work, adherence to safety standards, and efficient project execution. As a Welder Leader, you will guide a team of welders, interpret complex blueprints, and ensure all welding activities meet industry standards and project specifications. Your proactive approach will drive productivity, maintain safety protocols, and uphold the highest quality in metal fabrication projects.
Responsibilities
- Put together weldments.
- Interpret mechanical blueprints, schematics, technical drawings, and welding symbols to plan and execute welding tasks accurately.
- Perform a variety of welding techniques including MIG (Metal Inert Gas), TIG (Tungsten Inert Gas), FCAW (Flux-Cored Arc Welding), SMAW (Shielded Metal Arc Welding), and welding as required by project specifications.
- Utilize precision measuring tools such as calipers, micrometers, and shop math to verify dimensions and ensure weld quality.
- Operate power tools, plasma cutters, press brake machines, rigging equipment, and other fabrication machinery to shape and assemble metal components.
- Maintain compliance with industry standards including AWS (American Welding Society) standards and ASME codes & standards for fabrication and welding procedures.
- Conduct regular safety inspections, enforce safety protocols, and promote a culture of safety awareness among team members.
- Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and other trades to interpret schematics, schematics, pipe threading diagrams, ductwork layouts, and assembly instructions.
- Assist in training junior welders on proper techniques, safety practices, and equipment use to foster skill development within the team.
Skills
- Proficiency in multiple welding techniques: MIG, TIG, FCAW, SMAW; familiarity with welding processes.
- Ability to read blueprints, schematics, technical drawings, and mechanical blueprints accurately.
- Skilled in using calipers, micrometers, hand tools, power tools, plasma cutters, press brake machines, and rigging equipment.
- Experience working with fabrication shops or manufacturing environments; understanding of shop math and basic math principles necessary for precise measurements.
- Ability to interpret technical drawings related to mechanical fabrication projects; strong problem-solving skills in mechanical fabrication tasks.
