Position Summary
The Claims Advocacy Specialist plays a critical role in supporting Ryan’s Transactional Risk practice by managing claim activity, advocating on behalf of clients, and ensuring timely, fair, and accurate claims resolutions. This position works closely with insurance carriers’ claims departments, retail agents, and internal stakeholders to assess coverage, monitor progress, and resolve claims efficiently. The Specialist is responsible for providing guidance throughout the claims process, maintaining strong communication channels, and enhancing the overall effectiveness of claims management practices.

Key Responsibilities
Claims Management & Evaluation

Manage a backlog of claims and utilize a diary system to ensure timely communication, monitoring, and reporting.

Conduct thorough investigations and research to evaluate and establish coverage for assigned claims.

Act within designated authority levels to resolve claims when appropriate.

Monitor claim-related communications, identify exposures, address stakeholder needs, and ensure accurate data entry within claim systems.
Client & Carrier Advocacy

Serve as a liaison between clients and insurance carriers, advocating for fair and timely claim resolutions.

Communicate with carriers’ claims departments to discuss coverage issues and request periodic status updates.

Collaborate with retail agents to ensure timely claim reporting and clear documentation.

Provide ongoing guidance to clients, explain procedures, address inquiries, and manage expectations throughout the claims lifecycle.
Collaboration & Strategy Development

Participate in claim reviews, audits, and performance evaluations to identify improvement opportunities.

Develop and refine claims advocacy strategies to optimize outcomes and maintain service excellence.

Work closely with underwriters, actuaries, and risk management professionals to assess coverage, evaluate liability, and establish appropriate claim strategies.

Contribute to initiatives designed to mitigate risk, reduce claim frequency and severity, and strengthen overall claims management processes.
Professional Development & Industry Awareness

Stay current on industry trends, regulatory changes, and best practices in claims advocacy and insurance coverage.

Provide training, mentorship, and knowledge sharing to junior team members as needed.

Perform other relevant duties as assigned.
Work Experience & Education
-
1+ years of experience in insurance claims processing or claims management with a Bachelor's degree, or
-
Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s of Law preferred.

Preferred fields of study: Finance, Legal, Insurance, Business Administration, or related disciplines.

Legal education (e.g., law degree) or related field experience is a plus.

The target salary range for this position is $148,000.00 - $185,000.00 annually.
The wage range for this role considers many factors, such as training, transferable skills, work experience, licensure and certification, business needs, and market demands. The pay range is subject to change and may be modified in the future. Full-time roles are eligible for bonuses and benefits.
